Activities on the sea
Port de Soller sits in an almost enclosed bay with an entrance of about 450 metres, so swell is limited and the water is usually calm, a good place to start with water sports.
- Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP): the bay is protected and has an interesting coastline to explore from a board. Hire is usually available near the beach in season; check availability and prices at the time.
- Kayak: paddling around the bay, past the lighthouses and the rocks at the entrance, is a classic mid-morning plan. Some guided outings include a snorkel stop.
- Snorkelling: around the rocks at the ends of the bay and in coves such as Cala Deià and Cala Tuent. Bring water shoes.
- Diving: there are dive centres in the Port, for example Soller Divers, Sóller Dive Camp and Octopus Dive Centre, offering dives and courses. Check levels, dates and prices with each centre.
- Boat trips: group trips to Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent, or private boat hire from the harbour. Compared in boat trips from Port de Soller.
To choose where to swim, see Soller beaches.
Hiking and mountains
The Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, starts on the edge of Soller. There are trails for half an hour and routes for a full day, with stone-paved paths, olive groves and sea views.
- Short walks: paths through orange groves to Biniaraix and Fornalutx.
- Longer routes: from the Port to the lighthouse, along the coast or around Puig Major; always carry water, a hat and closed shoes.
- Torrent de Pareis: the canyon that ends at Sa Calobra is a demanding crossing. Without a guide it is only walked when dry, usually between May and October; check the forecast first. Guided trips exist.
Routes, difficulty and times in the Soller hiking guide. In summer start early.
Road cycling
Soller is a reference point for road cycling in Mallorca thanks to its mountain passes and scenery.
- Coll de Sóller: the pass linking Soller with the interior. Depending on the source and the start point it is roughly 7.5 to 9 km long, with an average gradient of 5 to 6 %. Cyclists use the old road because bikes are not allowed in the Ma-11 tunnel.
- Puig Major (Ma-10): the climb from Soller toward the Monnaber tunnel is about 14.6 km, with an average gradient near 6 %.
- Sa Calobra: the road of tight hairpins down to the sea, well known among cyclists.
Some shops hire road and electric bikes; confirm models and prices with the shop. Give cars room and avoid peak traffic on the Ma-10.

Climbing and canyoning
Tramuntana limestone offers rock climbing and canyons in the mountain streams. It suits people with experience or those going with a local school or guide: some operators run guided climbing and canyoning outings, including Torrent de Pareis.
- Ask about the required level, included equipment and insurance.
- Do not enter a canyon if rain is forecast: flash floods are fast.
- Spring and autumn are the best seasons.
Train and tram
Two classics that are an activity in themselves, not just transport.
- Soller train: the historic wooden train between Palma and Soller, with tunnels and mountain views. See the Soller train guide.
- Soller tram: from the town centre to the Port in a vintage tram, great with kids. Times and stops in the tram guide.
Market and shopping
The weekly market takes place on Saturdays in Plaça de la Constitució and nearby streets. Sources differ on closing time, between 13:30 and 14:00, so go in the morning. You will find fruit, oranges and lemons from the valley, crafts and local products.

Spa and wellness
Soller and the Port have hotels with spas and wellness areas. Conditions for outside guests, hours and prices change by hotel and season, so ask before going. A good plan for a rainy day or to rest after hiking or cycling. More in where to stay in Soller.
