Timetable

  • From Soller: first departure at 8:00 and last around 20:35.
  • From Port de Soller: first departure at 8:30 and last around 21:05.
  • Frequency: every 30-60 minutes depending on the time of day.

The winter timetable is more limited. Check the official timetable for the day you travel.

Combined ticket with the Soller train

If you are coming from Palma, the combined train + tram ticket includes a return on both. You do not have to choose a time for the tram: you can take any departure of the day. Price and conditions are in the Soller train guide.

What the journey is like

The tram leaves Placa d'Espanya, crosses the centre of Soller along narrow streets, sometimes only centimetres from the facades, and passes the Municipal Market. It then runs through L'Horta, the valley's orange and lemon groves, on a single track with a passing loop at Sa Roca Rotja where trams wait to pass each other. On the last stretch the bay of Port de Soller comes into view and the tram runs along the seafront promenade to the end.

For the best views of the bay, sit on the sea side on the journey into the Port.

High season and low season

  • Summer: the open cars (jardineras) run and departures are more frequent. At midday and late in the afternoon queues form at both ends.
  • October to March: a reduced service with fewer departures. Check the timetable before planning your return.
  • Saturdays: market day in Soller; the town centre stops are busier in the morning.

Tips for the journey

  • In summer the open cars (jardineras) run: they are the best way to enjoy the scenery.
  • On market Saturdays the town centre stops are busier; board at the first stop if you can.
  • To swim at Repic beach, get off at Sa Torre, before the end of the line.
  • There is no need to buy in advance: you pay on board. Ask when boarding whether cards are accepted, or carry cash just in case.
  • If the tram is full, wait for the next one: in season they run frequently and the journey is short.
  • The Soller tourist office is in a former train carriage at Placa d'Espanya, next to the departure stop.
  • When you reach the Port you have the bay, the promenade and the restaurants: see our Port de Soller guide.

The trams: history on rails

The tram opened on 4 October 1913 as Mallorca's first electric tram line. Cars 1, 2 and 3 and trailers 5 and 6 are the originals from 1913, built by the Zaragoza firm Carde y Escoriaza. The open cars arrived in 1954 from the Palma trams, and the fleet was completed with five units from Lisbon (numbers 20 to 24), adapted to the 914 mm track gauge.
