What counts as a historic hotel in Sóller
Sóller grew rich in the 19th century through the orange trade, and its old town filled with mansions, merchants' houses and buildings with a modernist air. Several have been restored as small hotels, with courtyards, inner gardens and original details such as patterned tiles, stone arches or wooden beams.
This guide covers places in historic or old buildings, in two groups: hotels in town houses and valley estates. Other types have their own guides: hotels in Port de Sóller, agroturismos, villas and apartments and hostels.

Historic hotels in the old town
Staying in town means walking to the square, the market and the station, with the tram close by for trips down to the port.
- Gran Hotel Sóller: housed in a 19th-century building in the centre, designed by the architect Joaquín Pavía Birmingham according to its official site. It has a rooftop pool, the Ca'n Blau restaurant, a lobby bar and a rooftop bar that opens in summer only. It is the largest of the five and the most classic in feel.
- Hotel Salvia: a restored 19th-century merchant's house in the old town. A small hotel of about seven rooms with antique furniture, adults only, with an outdoor pool in a terraced garden and breakfast included in the rate.
- Hotel Can Abril: a traditional house from 1900 on Carrer de Pastor, turned into a hotel in 2012 and renovated again in 2021. It has an inner courtyard or garden, a sauna and a hammam, and belongs to the Saratoga group, which also runs Casa Bougainvillea and Solleric Petit Hotel in Sóller.
- Can Isabel: a restored 19th-century Mallorcan house on Carrer Isabel II, a few steps from the station. It has six rooms, each different, and a small pool in an inner garden.
A historic estate in the valley: Ca n'Aí
Ca n'Aí is a valley estate on the Camí Son Sales, and the land has belonged to the Morell family since 1723. It is an adults-only rural hotel with traditional Mallorcan architecture, period furniture, an outdoor pool with mountain views and a private stop for the historic tram at the entrance, so you can reach the town and the port without a car.
For more country estates, continue with the guide to agroturismos in Sóller, which covers that type of stay.

How to choose
- For a quiet couples' break: Hotel Salvia or Ca n'Aí, both adults only with an outdoor pool.
- For full hotel services (restaurant, bars, a larger reception): Gran Hotel Sóller.
- To feel like you are staying in a village house: Can Isabel or Can Abril, with few rooms and personal service.
- If you would rather leave the car behind: the four town hotels are close to the station and the tram stop; Ca n'Aí has its own stop.
- Travelling with children: rule out the two adults-only places and ask each hotel about its age policy, as not all spell it out.
To wake up facing the bay instead of in the old town, see the hotels in Port de Sóller.
Season and booking
Small hotels have few rooms and fill first in spring and summer, and on event weekends. Some close or reduce services in winter, and pools usually open only in season (Ca n'Aí's, according to the hotel, opens on 1 April). Always check dates on the official site before planning your trip.
Practical tips
- Old buildings can mean stairs and rooms without a lift: ask whether that matters for you.
- Streets in the old town are narrow. Ask whether the hotel has its own parking or read the guide to parking in Sóller.
- Ask for a room facing the courtyard or the mountains if you want quiet; rooms on the main street are noisier.
- Book on the official site and compare with booking platforms: cancellation terms and breakfast vary.
