Sport climbing near Soller
Tramuntana rock is limestone, with vertical walls and overhangs above the sea. In the Soller area the crag that appears in guidebooks is Port de Soller: Outdooractive describes it with about 47 routes and several sectors, including Cova de Ses Puntes, and UKC mentions a 6a called El mar del amor on the sea cliff.
There is no single official guide to the valley's sectors. Before you go, check an up-to-date topo (see below), because access to some coastal walls has been restricted in the past and may change.
Sa Gubia, one of the biggest crags in Mallorca (more than 100 routes), is not in Soller. If you add it to your trip, check the access conditions before you go.
Deep water solo (psicobloc)
This is rope-free climbing above the sea: if you fall, you land in the water. The Psicobloc Mallorca guidebook includes Port de Soller, Sa Foradada and Sa Crueta among its areas, and the Rockfax Mallorca Deep Water guide (2025 edition) also covers Port de Soller.
- Never alone: despite the name, it is safest to always go with someone.
- Know the water: check the depth below the route, that there are no rocks and how you will get out of the water.
- Watch the sea: swell or strong wind makes it unsafe. See the weather in Soller.
- To start: a local guide is the safest way to learn where you can and cannot climb.
Some stretches of coast are only reachable by boat; departures from the Port are in boat trips.
Coasteering in Soller
Coasteering combines walking along cliffs, scrambling, swimming and jumping into the sea. Spain.info lists Soller among the places in Mallorca where it is offered:
- Duration: about 3 hours.
- Organiser: Outdoor Adventure Sports.
- Price: from 75 euros per person, taxes included, according to Spain.info (confirm before booking).
- Languages: Spanish, English, French, German and Italian.
- Level: suitable for all ages according to the listing, but you should not be afraid of heights and need to be able to swim.
Canyoning: experts or guided only
The mountain's torrents have rock gorges with abseils and water sections. The Torrent de Pareis and the Sa Fosca canyon are demanding routes meant for experts or for going with an authorised canyoning company. We do not present them here as a casual outing.
- Never enter a canyon when rain is forecast: flash floods come fast.
- Ask about included equipment, the level required and insurance.
- If you only want to see the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis, you can take the boat from the Port or read hiking in Soller.
Guides and companies
- Outdoor Adventure Sports: runs the Soller coasteering according to Spain.info. SeeMallorca also lists climbing and deep water soloing with the guide Rock and Ride, with private sessions and group sessions of about 4 hours. That listing places the activity in Valldemossa, not Soller, and group sessions require some previous experience. No prices are published.
Always ask for the minimum level, included equipment (harness, helmet, ropes, wetsuit) and insurance before booking.
Season and grades
- Where and when: a local guiding listing describes Mallorca as having "sunny cliffs in winter and shady limestone in summer". Choose the aspect to suit the season.
- Canyons: spring and autumn are the best times.
- Grades: Mallorca guidebooks use the French scale. The theCrag sport guide covers F3 to F9a+ across 31 areas.
Gear and safety
- Helmet, harness, rope and quickdraws if you climb on your own; for coasteering the company normally supplies wetsuit, helmet and buoyancy aid (confirm this).
- Footwear that can get wet and grips damp rock.
- Water, sun protection and a way to tell someone your plan.
- Check the marine forecast and never jump where you do not know the depth.
Recommended climbing guidebooks
- Mallorca Sport Climbing (Rockfax, 2025 edition): bolted sport climbing on limestone.
- Mallorca Deep Water (Rockfax, 2025 edition): psicobloc areas, including Port de Soller.
- Psicobloc Mallorca: covers Port de Soller, Sa Foradada and Sa Crueta, among others.

Activity comparison

After the activity
After a day of rock and water, spa and wellness or calmer water sports in the bay are a good follow-up. Access to the Port is covered in getting to Soller.
