How prices have risen since 2018
According to the comparison table on Wikipedia, in 2018 a single from Palma to Sóller cost 18 euros and a return 25. Today it is 23 and 30:
- Single: up 5 euros, or 28% in eight years.
- Return: up 5 euros, or 20%.
The increase in euros is identical for both tickets, which is why the return has risen less in percentage terms.
Is the Sóller train worth the price?
It depends on what you buy. With 2026 fares the sums are simple:
- Two singles cost 46 euros; the return is 30. If you will come back by train, the return saves 16 euros.
- Return plus separate tram tickets comes to 30 + 20 (two 10-euro journeys) = 50 euros; the combined ticket is 40, so 10 euros cheaper.
- Combined online: some portals, such as Click Mallorca, quote offers from 32 euros on selected departures. Check the official site, as availability varies.
If your goal is simply to reach Sóller cheaply, the train is not the cheapest way; if you want the journey to be the day out, it is one of the best on the island. For a verdict on the ride itself, read the train guide.
Saving money: bus, combined ticket and short sections
- TIB bus: in 2026 it is free with the Intermodal or Única card; without one you pay standard fares, which we could not confirm from an official source. More options in getting to Sóller.
- Mountain section only: board at Bunyola and pay 11 euros single instead of 23.
- Combined ticket: if you also plan to visit the Port, the 40-euro combined ticket beats buying separately.
We found no resident discounts published on the official pages we checked. If you live on the island, ask at the ticket office.
Best times to avoid queues
The official site says single tickets are bought at the ticket office on the day of travel, and Click Mallorca advises arriving at least 30 minutes before departure. Morning departures draw the biggest crowds, especially in summer. A few ideas:
- Arrive early and ask at the ticket office about quieter departures.
- If your dates are flexible, travel outside July and August.
- Book the combined ticket online if you want to secure both train and tram.
