Options for flying over Sóller

Sóller lies on the far side of the Serra de Tramuntana from Palma, so a scenic flight includes it as part of a wider route. There are three options: two companies based at Son Bonet and a private flight advertised by a hotel in the Port.

We give no prices, which depend on the route and the season: ask the operator. If you would rather see the coast from the water, compare with boat trips.

Companies and departures

  • HeliXperiences: its website offers scenic flights of 30, 42 and 60 minutes, combined with wine, lunch or yacht experiences, plus private charter. Flights are exclusive for up to three people. It departs from Son Bonet aerodrome (Palma).

What you see from the air

  • The Serra de Tramuntana: a staple of the scenic routes.
  • Port de Sóller: the bay, the marina and the lighthouse, as in the picture on this page.
  • Sa Calobra: the winding road on the northwest coast, included in Jumeirah's flight.
  • Palma and the coast: depending on the route, the city too.

What each route includes is set by the company, so ask for the itinerary when booking if Sóller is your priority. To see the valley from the ground, read about Port de Sóller.

Departures and advice

Departures: the companies above depart from Son Bonet in Palma. Ask the operator for the exact meeting point and any other base it uses.

In practice: choose an authorised company that answers your questions and follow your pilot's advice.

Transfers from the airport

The Helicopter Centre advertises VIP transfers between the islands and the mainland; if you want one to Sóller, ask the company directly. For the road option, our guide to getting to Sóller compares taxi, bus, train and car, and taxi and transport explains getting around the valley.

How to book and what to ask

  • Book ahead: both companies let you book online or contact the team.
  • Ask whether the route includes Sóller, the Port and Sa Calobra, and how many minutes are spent over the Tramuntana.
  • Confirm the number of seats, the weight limit and the cancellation policy for bad weather.
  • Ask where to park and what time to arrive.

Weather and best time

Flights depend on weather and air traffic. The Tramuntana can have cloud on the summits and wind, and a clear bay does not guarantee clear skies in the mountains. Check the weather in Sóller and leave some slack in your schedule in case you need to rebook.
