What happened
The Camí de Cas Jurat runs past the Fàbrica Nova, the former textile mill of the valley, now owned by the Consell de Mallorca. According to Sa Veu de Sóller, the road was shut for roughly ten months, starting in January, because of safety problems around the building. The second outlet we checked, elsoller.cat, confirms that the road opened to vehicles and pedestrians on the morning of Friday 30 October.
Before reopening there was an inspection with technicians, town hall staff and local police. The measures requested by the Consell have been completed, local press reports. Items mentioned include new signs, a barrier between the protected area and the public road, better night lighting, a speed bump and repainted yellow lines, although the two sources do not agree on every detail. Both mention metal protection or barriers around the structure that holds the building up.
Elsoller.cat adds that the maximum speed is 30 km/h and that the passage restrictions in place during the works have been lifted.
What it means for visitors
This part is our own practical reading, not something stated in the sources:
- It is a local road: it mainly matters if you move around the valley on foot, by bike or by car, or want to see the mill from outside.
- Drive slowly: with a 30 km/h limit, barriers and works nearby, expect slow manoeuvres and pedestrians.
- The building is still a work site, so there is no access inside and the fenced area should not be entered.
- If you travel without a car, the walk from the centre is short. See also what to see in Sóller.

How to follow the road status
- Check the news section of the Ajuntament de Sóller before driving, in case of short closures.
- Follow local press such as Sa Veu de Sóller.
- Respect the signs and fences: they mark the safety zone around the building.
What we do not know yet
The sources do not say whether the road could close again as work on the Fàbrica Nova moves forward, nor when the building works will finish. They also differ on some of the installed measures, so we have left out items that appear in only one source unless we say so.
