How we chose the 10 best

We reviewed official websites, travel guides, tourism directories and booking platforms, and prioritised steady reputation, variety of hotel types and a current listing. We give no prices or numerical ratings because they change every season. The order is a guide: what matters is that the list covers luxury, spa, boutique, adults only, families and closeness to the train.

Historic hotels and Port hotels have their own full guides; here we summarise them and link to them: historic and charming hotels and hotels in Port de Sóller. Agroturismos, hostels and villas and apartments have separate pages.

1. Jumeirah Port Sóller: clifftop luxury with a spa

According to its official website, it is a retreat set on the cliff high above Port de Sóller, with views of the Mediterranean and the Serra de Tramuntana. It is the best-known luxury hotel in the municipality, with a spa and several dining options, aimed at couples and families alike.

  • Best for: special getaways, spa, views and anyone who wants a full resort.

2. Ca's Xorc Luxury Retreat: adults-only finca among olive trees

On the Deià road (km 56.1), it occupies a former estate with an olive mill surrounded by olive and lemon trees, converted into rural accommodation in 1998. It is adults only, with 13 rooms and two garden cottages, a pool and a restaurant, Barretes, which cooks with produce from its own garden. According to the hotel, it is a little over ten minutes from the beach and the Port de Sóller.

  • Area: valley, outside the town; better with a car or taxi.
  • Best for: couples who want quiet, a garden and good food. On the restaurant, see the guide to restaurants in Sóller.

A 19th-century building in the heart of town, with 38 rooms and suites, five-star category according to its website, a spa, a rooftop pool, the Ca'n Blau restaurant and a lobby bar; the rooftop bar opens only in summer. Parking is paid. More detail in the guide to historic hotels.

When to book and seasonal notes

  • Summer, Easter and long weekends: high season. Book months ahead, especially at small hotels.

Getting around without a car

From Palma, the Sóller train drops you in the centre, and from there the tram runs down to the Port. You can also arrive by bus; see how to get to Sóller. If you stay in the valley, ask the hotel about transfers or taxis. If you come by car, see parking in Sóller.

What to check before booking

  • Age policy: adults only, or children with a minimum age.
  • Parking: whether it is on site, paid and needs booking.
  • Opening dates of the hotel, spa and pool.
  • Cancellation and breakfast: these vary between rates.
