For other fiestas and concerts, see the Sóller blog, which includes the cultural and social agenda.

Fira i Jornades de la Taronja (April)

This is the valley's most important food event and it revolves around Sóller's oranges and lemons. In 2026 it celebrated its 20th edition. It has two overlapping parts:

  • The Fira: the main weekend, on Plaça de la Constitució, with a citrus and local produce market, a display of varieties, tastings, citrus dessert contests, family workshops, music and an evening of concerts. Saturday is the busiest day.
  • The Jornades: for a few weeks, restaurants in Sóller, the Port and Fornalutx prepare dishes and menus with oranges and citrus, from desserts to savoury dishes and drinks.

The programme usually also includes guided visits to orange groves, tours of the valley's water heritage, activities at the MUCBO museum and, at the close, the Taronja d'Or awards in Fornalutx.

When: in recent editions it has fallen in April (12 to 28 April in 2024; 10 to 26 April in 2026). The Ajuntament publishes each year's dates.

What to eat: orange desserts and cakes, salads and dishes with citrus sauces, cocktails and juices. It is a good moment to try the orange ice cream and fresh juice we cover in the local produce guide.

Tips: arrive early on Saturday, book a table at the restaurants you want to try and combine the day with the tram down to the Port.

Sa Fira and Es Firó (May)

Es Firó is Sóller's best-known fiesta and recalls each May the pirate landing of 1561. It is not a food event, but on the Sunday, Sa Fira, the streets fill with stalls and people in traditional Mallorcan dress, and it is a fun moment to grab a bite in the crowd. It gets very busy, road access is restricted and parking is very difficult: arriving by train is better.

The battle, the music and the rest of the programme are in the cultural agenda on the blog.

Olive oil season (October to January)

Between mid-October and January the olives are picked on the Tramuntana terraces and the Sant Bartomeu cooperative presses the new oil. It is not a fair with a programme but a season: the best time of year to buy oli nou, green and peppery, straight from the cooperative's shop and at the market.

The full detail of the 2026 start of the campaign, how the olives are picked and what to check on the label is in the olive oil season in Sóller. What else to buy is in local produce.

Mushroom Gastronomic Days (autumn)

Each autumn, restaurants in Sóller and the Port add mushrooms to their menus for several weeks, organised by the Ajuntament and the valley's restaurant association. In 2026 it was the seventh edition, from 10 October to 30 November, with a dozen-plus venues, each with its own offer.

The season depends on rain, so ask the restaurant about the dish of the day. Dates, Mallorcan mushroom culture and safety advice are in the mushroom days.

Saturday market, the all-year date

If your trip does not coincide with any event, Sóller's weekly market is the food plan that always works: fruit, cured meats, cheese and produce from the valley. Everything is in the Sóller market guide.

Tastings and experiences that exist

  • Tastings at the orange fair: small samples of citrus preparations on the main weekend.
  • Guided visits to orange groves and routes along the fountains and irrigation channels: part of the April fair programme.
  • The cooperative's shop: buying new oil in season, at Carrer de Fornalutx 8.
  • Seasonal restaurant menus: the simplest way to taste oranges in spring and mushrooms in autumn.

For other one-off tastings or workshops, ask at your accommodation or the tourist office about what is on at the time.

How to plan a food trip

  • Pick the season: April for citrus, October and November for mushrooms and new oil.
  • Book ahead: rooms and tables fill up on event weekends.
  • One fair day, one walking day: give one day to the event and another to a hike in the mountains or a trip to the Port. See hiking.
  • Eat well: choose a restaurant in the restaurants in Sóller guide or the Port restaurants guide.
  • Shop to take home: oil, oranges or sobrasada; if you travel with bottles, wrap them well.

Practical tips

  • Booking: on the busy days of the fair and during the mushroom days, book a table in advance.
  • Parking: parking in central Sóller is hard on event weekends; see where to park in Sóller. Also check access restrictions to the centre on the Ajuntament's website.
  • Train and tram: the Sóller train drops you near the square and the tram goes down to the Port without a car.
  • Dates: always confirm the year's dates in the Ajuntament de Sóller's agenda; events tend to repeat in the same season, but the days vary.
  • Weather: check the forecast; rain affects mushrooms and open-air events.
